Setting up your eSIM
Takes about two minutes, do it before you fly
Install your eSIM on Wi-Fi before you travel - it doesn't use any data to install, and the plan itself won't start until it activates (see when your plan actually starts), so there's no downside to doing this the day you buy it.
1. Check out and get your QR code
Pay with card, Apple Pay or Google Pay - no account needed. Your QR code and manual installation details land in your inbox within about a minute.
2. Connect to Wi-Fi
Installing the eSIM profile needs an internet connection, and your phone's regular SIM or home Wi-Fi both work fine for this - it's only the destination data plan itself that's not active yet.
3. Install the eSIM
On iPhone: Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Service) → Add eSIM → Use QR Code, then scan the code from your email. If you're opening the email on the same phone, tap "Use Cellular Plan" on the confirmation page instead of scanning.
On Android: Settings → Network & Internet (or Connections) → SIMs → Add eSIM / Add mobile plan, then scan the QR code. Exact wording varies a little by manufacturer, but it's always under the SIM or Network settings.
Give it a label like "Travel" so it's easy to tell apart from your regular line.
4. Set line and data roaming correctly
- Turn on Data Roaming for the new eSIM line - this is what actually lets it connect to a partner network once you land. Skipping this is the most common reason an installed eSIM shows no data.
- Keep your regular SIM as the line for calls & texts, and turn its data roaming off so your normal carrier can't charge you for roaming data.
- Set the eSIM as your data line (iOS: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data; Android: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → tap the eSIM → Mobile Data).
5. Land and connect
Depending on the plan, data switches on the moment your phone connects to a network at your destination, or it may already have started when you installed it - check the "About this eSIM" panel on your plan's page to see which applies. Either way, no further setup is needed once you land; your phone finds the partner network automatically.
